Cookies

01The short version

SmartDividend sets four cookies, all of them our own. We load no third-party scripts — no Google Analytics, no advertising pixels, no tag manager, no external fonts. Nothing here tracks you across other websites, because there is nothing to track with.

That is why you are reading a page rather than dismissing a banner. Under the ePrivacy rules, cookies that are strictly necessary — or that simply remember a preference you set — do not require consent. Asking for consent we do not need would mean recording a decision we cannot act on, which helps nobody.

Two of the four are preferences rather than necessities, so you can switch them off below.

Your choice

Preference cookies (sd_v2_theme and sd_portfolio) are currently active. They remember your theme and which account you are viewing. You can switch them off at any time, free of charge, without losing access to anything.

Withdrawing is the same single click as objecting. Cookies that are strictly necessary — keeping you signed in, and recording this choice — are not affected, because the site cannot function without them.

02Every cookie we set
NamePurposeTypeLasts
sd_v2_themeRemembers your light/dark/coffee display choice so the correct theme is rendered on the server and the page does not flash the wrong one on load.UI customisation — CNIL délib. 2020-091 §49; UK PECR Sch A1 ¶6 (appearance).Preference1 year
sd_portfolioRemembers which account you are viewing so every page shows the same scope. Set only after you pick an account, and only to an account you own.Functional — WP29 Opinion 04/2012 §2.2 (a service is the sum of its functionalities); UK PECR Sch A1 ¶6.Preference90 days
__Secure-next-auth.session-tokenKeeps you signed in. Without it every page load would require re-entering your password. HttpOnly, and prefixed __Secure- over HTTPS.Authentication — WP29 Opinion 04/2012 §3.2; CNIL §49; UK PECR Sch A1 ¶4.Necessary7 days
sd_no_prefsRecords that you objected to the preference cookies above, so we can honour that objection. Set only if you use the control on this page. The consent/objection record itself is exempt — CNIL délib. 2020-091 §49.Necessary1 year

This table is generated from the same registry the application code reads, so it cannot drift from what is actually set.

03What we do not do

We do not use advertising or marketing cookies. We do not share cookie data with anyone. We do not profile you, and we do not build an advertising audience. There is no cookie wall: objecting costs you two small conveniences and nothing else.

04Other storage

Your theme choice is also kept in your browser’s local storage so the interface does not flash the wrong colours while loading. Local storage is not sent to our servers. Objecting above stops the cookie; clearing site data in your browser clears the rest.

05Changes

If we ever add something that genuinely requires consent — analytics, for instance — we will ask for it properly before it loads, rather than switching it on and telling you afterwards.

See also our privacy notice, which covers the account data we hold.
